Here we have an antique indian amulet
showing the Sapta Matrikas, the Seven Divine Mothers.
They are representing the saktis, or the energies of the
important familiar deities Brahmani (Saraswati)
Mahesvari (Raudani) Kaumari (Karttikeyani)
Vaishnavi (Lakshmi) Varahi, Indrani and
Chamunda (Chamundi). According to a legend
described in the Isanasivagurudevapaddhati,
the Matrikas were created to help Lord Siva in
his fight against Andhakasura.
On this amulet are four bales, they are adorned
with flowers.
This amulet is attached on a cotton cord and is
held in place by cotton balls and knots. It
has a cotton ball for adjusting the length.
This necklace is in great condition and ready
to wear!
