Old Indian coin necklace featuring an array of old antique 25 paise coins from India. One coin is 26mm x 19mm and the length of the necklace is 58cm / 23" and it weights 85gr. The coins are strung on a thick black cotton cord and have a coin on the end. It is not possible to open it, there is no closure, but has to be pulled over the head (the coin is only decoration). The cotton is a bit stiff but will get softer with wearing.
These old ethnic coin necklaces are especially worn in Nepal, by women from different ethnic groups of Nepal, such as Limbus, Rais, Tamangs, Sherpas, Tharus etc. since many centuries. They are ment to attract money and are an indicator of wealth.
